Javi and Trevor are two working professionals during business hours and beer enthusiasts after hours. Both love to travel, finding new and picturesque places to capture with their cameras.
What is beer? A question most of us do not care to ask, we only care to drink as much of it as we can to quench our thirst during these hot summer days.
However, it was this very question that brought Trevor and I, Javi, together to start our quest for the perfect beer regardless of where in the world it might be hiding. Don’t get me wrong, neither Trevor nor me are beer connoisseurs, as a matter of fact we might be far from gaining that status, but despite not having the extensive knowledge to know about the complexities of the golden liquid we so much enjoy to drink, we do consider ourselves beer enthusiasts.
To me, Javi, the gates of beer paradise opened at an early age. I’m from El Salvador, a small but culturally rich country in Central America, and here the legal drinking age is 18. However, beer at the time seemed just like a yellow liquid that I would drink occasionally at high school parties or family cookouts with my cousin. That young version of myself would never had imagined that beer could vary significantly. All I knew was that you either bought Pilsener or Suprema, the two biggest beer brands in the country. However, Once I got shipped to the US to start college and visited a liquor store for the first time when I turned 21 my sophomore year, I was baffled at the amount of beer options. Not only were there cans and bottles of different shapes and sizes, but each also had labels that ranged from IPAs, to stouts, to porters, to lagers, and much more. This is when I knew the that there couldn’t be ‘one’ all in all perfect beer, but there could be several. Trevor went through the same realization soon after.
Trevor got to know beer a little later as he turned 21 his junior year. However, due to his passion for exploring and finding the coolest spots in Boston, he soon came across the Harpoon brewery that offers tours as well as its own bar. He hadn’t been to a brewery before, but after his first visit, he automatically fell in love with the experience, and of course, the almost infinite selection of beers Harpoon offered (maybe the pretzels had something to do with it as well). It had been love at first sight. With this new-found love for brews, he set himself in a mission to get his friends, and me, into the beer culture. Without much convincing, he got us to visit other breweries in New England and this is how our enthusiasm for beer became something we were truly passionate about.
Now, Trevor and I have committed to finding every brewery possible to find the beers you must try before parting this world. This is how Dudes and Brews came to be, and we promise we will search far and wide to share our beer experiences and the knowledge we gain in the journey. So join us to become part of this quest, and if you see us around at any brewery (we’ll likely be the ones taking tons of pictures for social media, or having a flight or a pint), feel free to literally join us.
